Sean Bowen Blog - July Update

24 July 2019

It has been a good couple of weeks for me and even though it is the summer it’s been pretty busy, last week I was in Ffos Las for one ride which was a winning one for Dad in the name of Buckeye Shan who won the selling handicap hurdle.

On Sunday I was in Stratford where I had a winner and a second. Mcgroarty won for Dr. Richard Newland and Ruthless Article ran well in defeat to only get beaten a couple of lengths in a Novice Hurdle for Rebecca Curtis.

It was a fairly warm evening in Southwell yesterday for their first fixture of the week, where I had a winner for Caroline Bailey on Mariners Moon, we stayed on well to beat Red Inca. I’ve ridden Mariners Moon are fair few times so it was good to get a win for his connections and it was my 17th winner of the season.

Tomorrow I am back in Southwell with three rides, I think it’s a good idea to start the racing earlier tomorrow before it gets too hot, fair play to Southwell yesterday their care was second to none for the horses in the heat.

Dad and James have had a good run of things recently, Dr Robin won in Cartmel for them both on Monday, who was winning for the third in under a month. It is quite an exciting time of the year as horses for the winter season are coming back into work and there are always new and young horses to keep an eye out for.

I am looking forward to the break we have in August where there is no jump racing, it gives us chance to recharge our batteries for the upcoming season which is very busy as always.
